Corrie Bird

Who is Corrie Bird:?- Biography

Corrie Bird is a healthcare manager from the United States. Corrie Bird is best known for being the eldest child of the renowned basketball star and three-time NBA champion, Larry Bird.

Corrie was born even before her father began his NBA career, but it has been difficult to build strong bonds with him because of the strained relationships between her parents at the time of her birth.

The young woman, however, is adamant about having a good relationship with her father and will not accept a no. She is succeeding both personally and professionally and is not allowing her reality to deter her from her own ambitions.

Corrie Bird: Bio, Age, Parents, Ethnicity

In the Indiana town of Brazil, on August 14, 1977, Corrie Bird was born. Her mother is Janet Condra, a former mail carrier, and her father is NBA legend Larry Bird. Both of Corrie’s parents are natives of the same Indiana town and went to the same educational institutions.

They were childhood buddies who eventually had a romantic relationship. The two childhood sweethearts had high expectations for their future together, so when Larry was offered an athletic scholarship to the University of Indiana, their excitement knew no bounds.

Unfortunately, Larry was only at the University of Indiana for a month before he began to feel overwhelmed by his surroundings. He went back home and found work driving a truck for garbage disposal.

He and Janet kept up their relationship. Before Larry was persuaded to return to college basketball at Indiana State University, this uncertain time lasted for a few months. He came back, and by 1975—his first year at Indiana State—he and Janet were lawfully married.

Relationship Status of Corrie Bird’s parents

Many believed that Larry Bird and Janet would remain together forever after Larry Bird changed his college career, but it was not to be. The former childhood sweethearts couldn’t seem to make their marriage work, and in 1976, they divorced each other after a little over a year of marriage.

In an attempt to repair their relationship, the couple spent a brief period together, and it was during this time that Corrie was conceived. However, the attempt at reunion fell through, and by the time Corrie was born in 1977, the relationship between her parents was irreparably broken.

Because of this, Corrie Bird’s mother and stepfather, Mr. Hargrave, raised her while her real father went on to become a dominant player in the NBA in the 1980s. He resided all over the place while primarily playing for the Boston Celtics.

While her mother and stepfather remained in Indiana, she did not. Corrie Bird thus rarely saw her father. He only spoke with her through his regular child support payments. Additionally, he occasionally sent her holiday cards and presents.

Corrie Bird Has Fought to Keep a Relationship with Her Father Over the Years

Corrie Bird’s father frequently sent her money and other presents, but she desired more. She went out of her way to establish a personal connection with him because she wanted to. She played high school basketball to follow in his footsteps.

She also frequently included images in the updates she provided him about her life. Sadly, her dad rejected the majority of these overtures. She wrote to him, but he didn’t reply. Additionally, he missed their scheduled meeting time.

All of this caused Corrie a great deal of pain, but in 1993, when her father formally left the NBA, Corrie experienced her greatest loss. He was the subject of a huge ceremony, and she wrote to him requesting an invitation. She missed that historic night because he again chose not to answer.

Many people believed that Corrie should just give up on having any contact with her dad and move on because she was in such excruciating misery. She declined, though, and clung to the belief that her relationship with her father would eventually become better.

Dinah Mattingly, the wife of Corrie’s father, is to thank for the fact that this hope has started to pay off somewhat in recent times. When Corrie was younger, Dinah made a special effort to send her Christmas gifts.

She extends an invitation to the girl, who is now an adult, to watch some basketball games with the family. Although they still have a long way to go before having a perfect relationship, this has helped Corrie Bird and her dad become a little closer.

In the interim, Corrie Bird’s father has provided his own account of events. He claimed that because of the tense relationship he had with Corrie’s mother, he had no idea how to interact with the little child. However, he loves her and is pleased of who she has become as an adult.

Corrie Bird: siblings

Due to her many half-siblings, Corrie Bird is not Larry Bird’s only child. She has a cherished half-sister named Mandy on her mother’s side. Mandy is a gifted singer who has given performances at venues including the Lincoln Center.

She additionally performed at Corrie’s wedding in 2008. Mandy and Corrie are good friends, and for Mandy’s 2010 wedding, Corrie planned her bridal shower. Corrie Bird has two half-siblings, Conner and Mariah, on her father’s side. The two were infants when Larry Bird and his wife Dinah adopted them, but they are now all adults.

Mariah is an events manager and has a college degree. Conner has a college degree, too, but has occasionally made headlines for the wrong reasons. He was caught drinking while underage.

In 2013, he was also accused of violence and criminal irresponsibility, but the accusations were dropped. It’s unlikely that Corrie Bird still keeps in touch with her two paternal half-siblings despite the fact that she once went out with them at her stepmother’s invitation.
