Mark appeared alongside Tom Holland and other celebrities to promote his next film, Uncharted, on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday, February 17, 2022.
He discussed his relationship with James, the current boyfriend of his eldest daughter Ella, on that episode. He added that it is “difficult” for him to be more concerned about James than Ella.
“I believe he fears my daughter more than he fears me. In that relationship, I pray more for him than I do for her (Ella). He continued by saying that Ella and James were made for one another and that he “couldn’t be much sweeter.”
Mark also discussed how he came to terms with the fact that his kids would eventually grow up and start dating. “Early on, I understood that it was inevitable. As long as it’s someone good, treats her well, and is someone I can respect and trust,” he continued.
He continued by saying that James is excellent and that they get along really well. He concluded, “I hope she can retain him.” Finally, the actor said that James spent an additional week with his family following the holiday break.
