Alexander was always incredibly fascinated by dancing, so when Flex first started, he started dancing in nightclubs. Alexander gained the nickname “Flex” because, whenever he performed, he would combine dancing with his acrobatic feats.
After discovering his talent, DJ Spinderella offered to undertake a rap tour with the Salt-n-Pepa trio. They employed Flex for almost three years. He had the chance to choreograph Queen Latifah and Mary J. Blige’s songs for that.
Flex realized he had a wonderful sense of humor and decided to use open mics to show it off. He made his stand-up comedy debut in 1982, and soon after, his focus turned to acting. As a result, Alexander made his acting debut in the 1992 film “Juice.”
After receiving numerous lucrative offers, Flex made his television debut in 1993 on the ABC sitcom “Where I Live.” This program was receiving favorable reviews. However, that same year saw the end of this program. Sister, Sister Alexander and The Cosby Mysteries both had guest appearances on a few episodes in 1995. The comedic series, which debuted in 1996, featured The “Homeboys in Outer Space.” He made a cameo in the films Brooklyn South and The Parkers.
He played Maya Wilkes in the first season of the 2000 television series “Girlfriends” on the UPN network. His performance in the UPN sitcom series “One on One” was his most well-known effort.
