Tim Curry

Tim Curry’s performances as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror show solidified his status as a movie and stage star.

By chance, the gifted British actor got the part and nailed it. Despite a 40-year career, none of the other roles he played garnered him the same level of praise.

In an effort to avoid being stereotyped, he tried to avoid Rocky Horror, but he was unable to avoid his legendary performances.

He appreciated Dr. Frank-N-Furter more after having a stroke in 2012. Tim told ABC News, “It’s neither a benefit nor a curse.” “I got lucky getting it.”

Nine years after having a serious stroke, Tim Curry is still in a wheelchair

Tim Curry’s health issues started at the beginning of 2011 when he backed out of a few stages plays due to illness.

Curry had a stroke in July 2012, but it took almost a year for word of his condition to get out.

His agent, Marcia Hurwitz, told The Hollywood Reporter that Tim had a stroke in July of last year.

He continues to do well in physical therapy and maintains his wonderful sense of humor. He expresses gratitude to everyone who sent greetings.

Curry was anticipated to recover fully from the stroke. During the Tony Awards in 2015, he stated to Los Angeles Magazine, “I’m doing okay.”

Tim told the publication that keeping his sense of humor during his recovery was “extremely crucial.” It’s not difficult to keep up, he remarked. It’s simply a part of my DNA.

Tim meets fans during the For The Love of Horror 4 event in Manchester in October 2021. Tim is still in a wheelchair, as seen in pictures from the occasion.

Curry still seems to be unwell, yet he still maintains a positive outlook on life. According to a statement made on Tim Curry News, Tim tries to see the positive side of things:

“I do try to see the positive side of things because I think that looking at the negative side of things is boring and annoying, and you’re no joy to be around.” And I believe that is everyone’s own obligation.

Curry has curtailed his public appearances

After having a stroke, Tim Curry gradually cut back on his public appearances. He also started doing singing and voice acting.

He went to the Tony Awards in 2015 to get his lifetime achievement award. He said that Los Angeles Magazine had given him an award in recognition of his outstanding career:

It simply confirms the type of work that the American acting community has been providing me with for years, so to speak.

I believe it’s incredibly kind of them. When they told me, I was happy, and I still am. Tim took part in a Wisconsin Democratic Party fundraising event five years later.

He performed the initial script of The Rocky Horror Show at the occasion with other cast members.

The fundraiser took place just before Kamala Harris and Joe Biden were elected in America. Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chairman Ben Wikler said:

“Rocky Horror has been transforming lives for decades, and with this reunion on Halloween night to energize Wisconsin Democrats in the last few weeks, it’s going to transform the world once more.

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will be elected to the White House thanks to the joy, laughter, and funny, outrageous spirit of this legendary musical.
