Joe Louis, the second black heavyweight world champion, was a legendary American professional boxer. Joe Louis’s reputation as one of the greatest, most imposing, and influential boxers of all time is a result.
In 1937, he claimed the NBA, NYSAC, and Ring heavyweight titles, which he then successfully defended with 25 victories in a row.
He had the longest single reign as champion in boxing history as a result. However, he lost the title in 1950, at which point he announced his retirement.

Joe Louis was born in the American state of Alabama’s Chambers Country. Munroe Barrow and Lillie Barrow, both former slaves, are his parents.
He was also the seventh child in a family of eight children. His biological father had abandoned his family when he was very young.

At the age of 17, Louis made his amateur boxing debut in 1932. In order to keep his boxing secret from his mother, he also left off his last name when registering.
When he made his debut, he lost to Jhonny Miler. He complied nonetheless, taking home the Brewster Street Recreation Center’s club championship.
In addition, he captured the 1933 Detroit region Golden Gloves Novice Division title. But in the Chicago Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions, he was defeated.
The young boxer took first place in the light heavyweight division of the Golden Gloves Open competition.
The 1934 Chicago Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions was another victory for him.
He also won the 1934 light-heavyweight United States Amateur Champion National AAU competition after this triumph.
