The early 1990s economic downturn caused Mike and his ex-wife Alexandra Lorex to separate

When Mike was 19 years old, he married Alexandra Lorex in 1982. Three children were born to the couple: Amanda, Sherry, and Mike Jr. They had a happy marriage. Unfortunately, Mike’s firm was severely impacted by the early 1990s recession.

His domestic issues were a result of his business difficulties. As a result, Mike and Alexandra separated, ending their union.

The bond between Mike and his children was unaffected by the divorce. In addition to frequently appearing on Mike’s show, Amanda, Sherry, and Mike Jr. have all followed their father into the construction business.

On his Instagram feed, Mike displays his close bond with his kids in full. He just posted an Instagram picture of Amanda dressed as a bear with the caption:

“This one goes out to our Holmes behind the scenes. I want to wish a very happy birthday to my daughter, Amanda! This is the one day a year I get to share a photo of her, so I have to make it count! Love you, kid.”

Mike’s longtime partner Anna Zappia supported him during the challenging 1990s

In the early 1990s, Mike’s life was in ruins: He had ended his marriage, lost both of his parents, and was in danger of losing his business.

But his company survived, and Anna Zappia entered his life. She helped him restart his construction business and enter the television industry.

Holmes was hesitant to enter the reality television industry, but his family and coworkers persuaded him to give it a try.

The first season of Holmes on Homes was broadcast despite some initial setbacks, and it was a huge hit.

Mike didn’t enter the construction profession with the intention of becoming rich or famous but rather to inform homeowners and encourage more people to work in the field. His priorities haven’t altered, per an Instagram post from August 8th:

“My objectives are clear both on and off camera: Teach homeowners how to maintain their homes as well as how to buy one. Encourage the entire industry to produce better buildings. Encourage more individuals to work in trades.

Although it’s not apparent if Mike and Anna are wed, he refers to her as his wife.

The Father of Mike Mike developed a passion for remodeling and construction under Jim’s guidance

Jim and Shirley Holmes welcomed Mike Holmes into the world on August 3, 1963, in Toronto, Ontario. He shared his childhood with a younger brother and an elder sister.

From an early age, Mike’s curiosity about how things worked was obvious. He was curious and destroyed the toys his parents had given him.

Holmes’s father was a plumber who was an engineer for General Motors. Jim increased his earnings by working on a variety of building projects.

In an effort to learn from his father, Mike assisted in rewiring the second floor of their house when he was just 6 years old. Mike finished constructing his uncle’s basement six years later.

Mike’s father approved of his decision to quit school and devote himself to the construction industry.

Mike declared, “To me, he was Superman.” “I often talk about my dad… Even though I sometimes feel as though I talk about him too much, he undoubtedly serves as my source of inspiration.

Jim lost his life in a freak staircase accident, but he gave his kid a gift that made him famous all over the world.

Shirley, according to Mike, was a woman who was ahead of her time.

While it was still frowned upon, Shirley taught her kids about sex. “My dad was my friend, and my mom was my really good friend, and they raised me the correct way.”

Mike’s three children have joined him in the construction industry, with two of them

Sherry, Mike Holmes Jr., and Amanda are Mike Holmes’ three children. Sherry and Mike Jr. have gained notoriety for working with their father in the construction industry. Amanda favors maintaining a low profile.

Sherry and Mike Jr. didn’t plan on working in the construction industry. Mike Jr. admitted to Kobo that he gave his dad some free time but declined to do any paid job for him.

However, after spending some time working with Mike Jr., he gradually developed a love for construction.

“I worked for him for years before even getting involved on the television side and fell in love with the trade itself,” Mike Jr. said. Mike Jr. is a skilled handyman and has started to build a television life away from his father.

Mike Jr. and his family come together to assist families in need in Holmes: Next Generation. Projects were being touched.

We still stay in touch with some of the homeowners, and each story is unique and touching. It was enjoyable to work on, according to Mike.

Sherry spent her early years around construction thanks to her father. She didn’t anticipate entering the industry, though.

After assisting with the reconstruction of homes damaged by Hurricane Katrina, Sherry discovered a liking for her father’s line of work.

It was incredible, Sherry said to the Times Colonist. “I would do it all over again in an instant.”
