Symone Sanders, a broadcaster on MSNBC, marries her fiance secretly
Symone Sanders, an American politician, and commentator, and Shawn Townsend, her longtime partner, got married.
The 32-year-old MSNBC host said “I do” on July 15 at a private wedding ceremony attended by friends and family at the Larz Anderson House on Embassy Row in Washington, D.C.
Only approximately 100 people, according to several news sources, were informed of the couple’s impending nuptials. Townsend reportedly referred to Sanders as “ride or die,” according to People Magazine.

About Symone Sanders’ husband Shawn Townsend
Shawn Townsend graduated from New Mexico State University with a degree in journalism and mass communication, according to the company’s official website. He is presently residing in Columbia.
According to the website, Townsend is the head of the company’s Washington, D.C., office and promotes collaborations between public and private businesses. Furthermore, it says:
Shawn interacts with clients to give strategic direction and design outreach and awareness campaigns to effectively address their state and local public policy concerns as a part of the firm’s State and Local Affairs and Multicultural Strategies practice.
Shawn served as the director of the Columbian Mayor’s Office of Nightlife and Culture in 2018, having been chosen by Mayor Muriel Bowser. Additionally, he was instrumental in creating and formulating a plan of engagement to assist businesses and patients throughout the coronavirus epidemic.
Pastor Dededrick O. Rivers of Ward Memorial AME Church officiated his marriage ceremony. Later on in the ceremony, as is customary in many Black marriages, the newlyweds leaped a broom to seal their relationship.
According to The Root, Symone Sanders praised her new spouse in her wedding vows, saying:
Simply said, you’re the greatest man I know. I’ll be here for you at all times. Just simply being you, you have my sincere gratitude. You’ve just always been the most meticulous person. You’re really generous. You are very kind.
Their first dance together was to Jac Ross’s song So Into You. Opal Vadhan, Minyon Moore, Alicia Johnson, Catherine Snyder, Brittany Ruff, Abby Phillips, Remi Yamamoto, Malcom Thomas, and other celebrities were among the close friends and A-listers in attendance at the wedding.
Symone Sanders highlighted her enthusiasm about her D-Day with Townsend in an interview with People Magazine in May.
“I’m over the moon happy right now. A modest wedding will be held. Although I’m sure everyone is anticipating a major blowout, it will only be our close friends and family.
Sanders also announced in the same month that the couple would wed in Mexico, but she reportedly changed her mind.
After being introduced by political analyst and former South Carolina politician Bakari Seller, Symone Sanders and Shawn Townsend first met in 2019. The couple confirmed their engagement in 2021, two years into their relationship.
