Autumn Snyder

The real story behind Autumn Snyder’s passing

The much-anticipated Justice League movie ends with the words “For Autumn,” and Allison Crowe’s soulful Hallelujah cover plays as the titles finish.

We can all agree that the credits scene is the most moving part of the movie, regardless of how you feel about the first 3 hours and 58 minutes.

The phrase “For Autumn” alludes to the unfortunate 2017 death of Zack Synder’s daughter.

When Autumn was just over a year old, Zack and his ex-wife Denise Weber adopted her. Autumn was reared by Synder and his wife Deborah Synder together with eight other kids.

This essay will examine Autumn Synder’s passing and how it affected Zack’s personal and professional life.

After a protracted struggle with depression, Autumn Snyder killed herself

Autumn was the only Zack’s child that shared his interest in monsters, aliens, and superheroes as a child. At Sarah Lawrence, she was honing her writing talents.

Autumn and Zack frequently discussed her struggle with depression. Despite taking medicine and having counseling, she had trouble getting the disease under control.

She frequently questioned her value, according to Zack, who spoke to Vanity Fair. “How much am I worth? What’s expected of me? What do I stand for?

Autumn received continual reassurance from Synder that her life was priceless. Of course, you’re fantastic, the talk went. Zack threw in.

Why do you think your worth matters? You are more valuable than anything in the entire world! She would simply respond, “Yeah,”

Autumn struggled, and it showed in her writing. She used words to express her suffering and try to find comfort.

Zack said, “Her primary characters are constantly engaged in this conflict with things from another realm that no one can see.

And she was experiencing that war every day. While they grin and nod at you, I believe that many individuals are engaged in that conflict.

When Autumn killed herself on March 12, 2017, she lost the battle against despair.

As Synder’s family struggled to comprehend the startling turn of events, Autumn’s terrible demise shook them.

The loss of Autumn did, however, have a silver lining in that it contributed to greater awareness of suicide prevention.

Over $500,000 has been donated by Synder’s fans to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Autumn’s work will be published by Zack and Deborah, with all earnings going to charity. Autumn penned a sci-fi fantasy book in the first person about a character who is an outsider and struggles to fit in.

Zack told The Hollywood Reporter, “In the end, she didn’t make it, but her character does, and I think there would be something therapeutic for people.

In March 2017, Zack was finishing up Justice League when Autumn passed away. He believed that returning to work would be cathartic, but two months later he decided to resign.

He said to The Hollywood Reporter that he had to see his family. Zack clarified:

“This work has some extremely high demands. It consumes everything. And during the past two months, I’ve realized… I’ve made the decision to take a break from the movie so that I can spend time with my family and kids, who genuinely need me.

They’re all struggling, it seems. I’m struggling right now.

Zack handed the project up to Joss Whedon, the director of the Avengers. Josh submitted to Warner Bros.’ requests and added substantial rewrites and hasty reshoots that contrasted with Zack’s original work.

The end result was a shockingly lackluster movie that struggled in theaters and received negative reviews from critics.

Josh disavowed the movie by omitting his name from it. Deborah Synder told Zack not to watch Justice League after seeing a sneak preview.

Deborah reportedly told Vanity Fair, “Because I knew it would shatter his heart.”

Fans who were not happy with Warner Bros. demanded better. They began a campaign to get Warner Bros. to order the distribution of Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

Following a period of great pressure, Warner gave in to the #SynderCut movement that had become a global movement.

Zack’s departure from Justice League was partially motivated by his daughter’s death, but there were also rumors of internal disputes between Zack and Warner’s management.

So it came as a huge surprise when Warner gave him back the controls.

Autumn served as Zack’s source of inspiration when making Synder’s Cut. He had been grieving for two years, thus it should come as no surprise that 2021’s Justice League has a strong focus on loss and grief.

The loss of his daughter, according to Zack, was “such a lightning strike in the middle of this entire tragedy.” It served as a guide for all we did after.

“At the end of the movie, it says ‘For Autumn,’” Zack added. “Without her, this absolutely would not have happened.
