Chance the Rapper and Kirsten wed 16 years after first meeting at a party when Chance was nine years old

In Chicago, Illinois, on May 31, 1993, Kirsten Corley was born. Along with her sister Krystal, she was raised by her mother Janice.

At one of his mother’s work parties, Chance caught Kirsten’s attention for the first time.

Although he was uninterested in the celebration, he paid attention when it was announced that Destiny’s Child would be performing.

Independent Women was a performance by three girls in place of Destiny’s Child.

Before one of the girls, Kirsten charmed him with her performance, Chance originally felt relieved that there were other youngsters at the gathering. On Twitter, he stated:

“I’m looking at the most beautiful female I’ve ever seen in my nearly ten years of existence. And I genuinely felt that I shouldn’t have said that we had locked eyes because, in reality, I was just gazing at her.

Chance the Rapper, who was a skilled dancer, turned down his father’s invitation to demonstrate his abilities.

He didn’t even introduce himself to Kirsten; instead, he blended in with the crowd. Nevertheless, he danced with Kirsten as his wife sixteen years later.

He wrote, “It’s happening 16 years later.” “My wedding is this weekend, and this is the time. It’s my destiny, so I’m going to dance with my wife.

On July 4, 2018, Chance proposed to Kirsten while they were celebrating the holiday with friends and family.

As Chance posed the question, “Will you make me a man and be my wife?” to Corley, the couple’s friends and family cheered in jubilation.

Through Twitter, Chance said that “She said yes.” According to reports, the pair had a civil wedding on December 27, 2018, in the Cook County clerk’s office.

The pair married on March 9, 2019, in a ceremony conducted at the Resort at Pelican Hill. The wedding was attended by famous people including Dave Chappelle and Kanye West.

Chance’s 2018 birthday greeting included the following details on Kirsten’s significance in his life:

“Starting from the beginning and ending at the conclusion. My oldest buddy is you. Each and every one of the best things in my life is because of you.

I’ll always be grateful that God led me to you, and I’ll be even more thankful that you led me to God. Babe, always and ever. Birthday greetings.

After the birth of their first child, Kensli, Kirsten and Chance nearly fell out of love

In September 2015, Kirsten and Chance welcomed Kensli into the world. Kirsten went to court in May 2016 to ask for child support orders.

Kerstin reactivated the case in February 2017 in an effort to negotiate a long-term child support arrangement with Chance.

According to records obtained by the Chicago Sun-Times from Kirsten’s attorneys, Chance continued to thwart efforts to reach an agreement. The records state:

“Chancellor is essentially holding Kirsten hostage in his house because, on the one hand, he won’t give her the support she needs to get her own place unless this whole thing is resolved on his terms, but on the other hand, Kirsten doesn’t know what exactly Chancellor has to say about her counter-proposal, making a resolution impossible.”

Chance didn’t like what The Chicago Sun-Times wrote. Chance remarked, “Y’all better do y’all jobs and stop worrying about how awesome my family is,” in an Instagram video that featured Corley and Kensli. He continued, “Sun-Times, get the fuck back.”

The Chicago Sun-Times reported later that month that Chance and Kirsten had settled their dispute over child support.

Chance the Rapper and Kirsten ultimately patched things up and reconciled. Corley acknowledged that although they are happily married, their union is not flawless.

She included the following caption with a picture of her family:

“I hope you don’t see ‘the perfect family when you look at us. I hope you see two flawed people trying their best to build a house based on love and grace.

Marriage is challenging. Saying otherwise or giving you the impression that it would be simple will be reckless. It makes you face many aspects of yourself that you were unaware of.

Before the birth of the couple’s second child, Marl, Kirsten advocated for post-partum body acceptance

Marli, Kirsten and Chance’s second child, was born in September 2019. Corley used a cute picture of a toddler in a onesie to announce the birth.

Chance and Corley took their time before posting Marli’s photo on social media, just like they had done with Kensli.

Kirsten declared in April 2019 that she wouldn’t be pressuring herself to shed her pregnancy weight. She posted pictures of her 18-week-old baby bulge with the caption:

Body shame is nuts. especially throughout pregnancy and the postpartum period. Why do we boast about how fit we are during pregnancy and how quickly we bounce back after giving birth?

Even if I don’t show it, I’m determined to be kind to my body this time. Stop expecting ourselves to recover quickly, as if being a new mother wasn’t challenging enough.

Chance attributes Kirsten’s introduction of him to Christianity to changing his life

Chance said to Nicki Minaj in the middle of 2019 that Kirsten’s conversion to Christianity transformed his life.

Chance the Rapper explained in an interview with Queen Radio that the song We Go High is about how Kirsten changed his life.

“I describe how my wife’s decision to become celibate and undergo baptism literally saved my life.” Chance further stated that he is happy Kirsten reconciled with him following their 2016 breakup:

“This is all after Coloring Book after I declared my love for Jesus and everything like that… My entire life changed when my girl was generous enough to accept me back. I now fully understand where everything originates.

After spending time together throughout quarantine, Chance’s family has become closer.

The rapper admitted to Parents that although he and Kerstin have not yet discussed their beliefs with their children, they will be raised in a Christian home.

In response to the growth of the BLM movement, he disclosed that they had discussed Kensli’s identity with her:

My children are young. The main lessons we have been teaching Kensli are self-acceptance, the value of her viewpoint, the beauty of Black people, and the fact that her superpower is Blackness. I’ve only been attempting to teach her how to walk, Marli.
