Sharon Murphy

An explosive HBO documentary brings attention back to Brittany Murphy’s passing. The essay demonstrates how little control Brittany had over her life because her husband, Simon Monjack, made all of her decisions.

Additionally, he was a part of Brittany’s catastrophic weight loss and potential drug use.

Brittany’s mother, Sharon Murphy, discovered her daughter lying on the toilet floor and dialed 911. Brittany was pronounced dead by hospital staff.

The coroner determined that the actress’s death was due to severe pneumonia, anemia, and drug intoxication.

However, Sharon’s supporters have always contended that she was responsible for the death of her daughter.

Following the broadcast of the HBO documentary, the claims have become more serious.

After selling her daughter’s mansion, Sharon started living a more sedate lifestyle

After Brittany’s death, her family began fighting over her estate just as the shock had barely subsided.

By excluding her spouse from her will, Brittany gave Sharon the whole contents of her fortune. Simon Monjack, the husband Brittany was married to, was purposefully left out of the will.

Despite being excluded by Brittany, Monjack continued to have such control over her finances that he withdrew about 80% of it.

According to People, Jeffrey Morgenroth, Murphy’s former manager, disclosed:

There was a ton of money in the bank account and pension plan, and now it’s all gone. On the statements, I would see it. Simon was withdrawing hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Jeffrey also discussed Simon’s tight control over Brittany’s money and possessions. He described an instance in which she claimed Simon had barred her from seeing Brittany when he required her to sign a tax form:

I lost to Simon. Her untidy hair was given as the justification. When Brittany [called down] and said, “Hi Jeff, sorry I couldn’t see you, bye,” I was standing by the front door. It sounded strange and fishy.

Linda, Monjack’s mother, also asserted a claim to a portion of Brittany’s assets.

After Monjack’s passing, Linda reportedly requested Sharon Murphy to leave Brittany’s Hollywood Hills house, according to Jeffrey’s secretary Jeannette Boycott.

Simon died in May 2010 under hauntingly identical circumstances to those that surrounded Brittany’s passing.

According to Jeffrey, Sharon was baffled as to how Simon had made such significant withdrawals from Brittany’s accounts.

There are almost no zeros there, I said as she was looking at the pension statement, Morgenroth recalled.

When Sharon sought to raise money by selling jewelry that Simon had purchased for Brittany, she discovered that everything was phony and useless.

She was forced to put Brittany’s mansion up for sale, and it sold for $2.7 million in 2011.

After the sale, Brittany’s mother decided to live a quiet life after having to deal with Brittany and her husband’s deaths.

Simon Monjack and Sharon were apparently enjoying a romantic relationship

The situation was already compounded by rumors that Sharon Murphy and Simon Monjack had an intimate relationship soon after Brittany died.

Before the actress passed away, Brittany, Monjack, and Sharon resided at her Hollywood mansion.

It’s not strange that Simon and Sharon kept residing on the estate after she passed away. The claim that the heartbroken couple shared a bed is unusual.

Monjack and Sharon appeared more like a grieving couple in a photo shoot after Brittany’s passing than they did as a mother and son-in-law. The pair then had an odd interview with Larry King.

Sharon claimed that she had spoken to Brittany an hour before Brittany contacted 911, which seemed to contradict her initial narrative of Brittany’s death.

Monjack intervened, saying, “No, no, no, sweetheart, this way – you’ve forgotten time. Not many men have ever referred to their mothers-in-law as babies.

Then, Simon said to Larry King that Brittany’s “pristine body” made an autopsy on her unnecessary. “Silky skin, curvy in all the right places… How could I tell her mother to “cut it up”?

When there were rumors that Sharon and Monjack were dating, Sharon said, “That’s terrible.” We are family and close pals. It’s a terrible and absurd thing to say.

Linda, Monjack’s mother, gave her blessing to Sharon and Simon’s tight friendship, saying it made it easier for Monjack to deal with Brittany’s passing.

According to Linda, who spoke to People, “He seems to be doing better some days and wants to kill himself other days.” They appear to be relying heavily on one another for support, in my opinion.

Monjack revealed his plans to relocate to New York in a March 2010 interview with E! News. Sharon would go to New York as well, but she would not live with Monjack. He clarified:

“Would I mind if Sharon relocated too? She claimed she always liked New York, and LA is just too painful for her. I don’t, of course. But I should make clear that we will continue to live apart.

Monjack revealed to People a week prior to his passing that he and Sharon were going to start a new project in Europe. I can’t leave her, so of course, I’ll take her with me, he added.

Sharon discovered Simon dead in Brittany’s LA home on May 23, 2010. Similar to Brittany, she dialed 911, and the coroner determined that his death was due to acute pneumonia and severe anemia.

Sharon denied her husband’s assertion that Sharon was murdered

Brittany was welcomed by Sharon Murphy and Angelo Bertolotti in November 1977. When Brittany was 2 years old, Angelo left, leaving Sharon to raise her by herself.

Brittany was discouraged by Sharon from getting in touch with Angelo, most likely because of his criminal connections.

Mobster Angelo served time in prison for racketeering, involvement in organized crime, and using fake money to defraud people.

Angelo claimed that Brittany’s death was suspicious in 2012 and wanted the authorities to investigate.

Angelo declared, “I’m not going to rest until my daughter’s premature death is thoroughly investigated, which hasn’t happened so far.

In response to Bertolotti’s accusations, Sharon came out of hiding and penned a letter to The Hollywood Reporter disputing his assertions.

She called Angelo’s proof “flimsy” and said it was “more of an insult than an explanation of what actually occurred.”

Angelo was called out by Sharon for being AWOL and occasionally popping up to take advantage of Brittany’s achievements.

He was never present, according to Sharon. The hair test that served as the foundation for Angelo’s assertions, according to Murphy, was disregarded by specialists. She penned:

A hair sample can be impacted by a variety of external factors, including hair spray, prescription medications, meals, occasional cigarette smoking, and environmental conditions, which this article neatly ignores.

Despite not knowing what killed Brittany, Murphy said she was convinced that the coroner did everything they could to determine the cause of death. Added her:

“We can never be certain. We do, however, know that the Los Angeles County Coroner performed rigorous examinations and determined that she passed away naturally. She has since become a genuine living angel in heaven.
