Chaz Bono went through a gender transition at a time when the topic was spoken in whispers. In the ten years that have passed since his transition, the LGBTQ+ community has advanced significantly.
However, Bono still believes that more needs to be done to end discrimination against LGBTQ+ individuals, particularly with regard to trans persons.
On the Trans Day of Visibility, Bono posted on Instagram, “The aim behind this day is to use visibility and knowledge to help fight against the immense prejudice trans people suffer.”
In the face of hardship, Bono’s daring embrace of his true self deserves praise.
In West Hollywood, Bono maintains a low profile with his lover Shara Blues Mathes
Over the past few years, Bono has grown more reticent. He was last seen in the media taking his kitties to the veterinarian in October 2020.
His girlfriend Shara Blues Mathes was with him. Nearly ten years after Bono and Jennifer Ella’s breakup, the duo began dating.
In 2015, Bono claimed, “I appear to reject ladies I am attracted to. About two years had passed since Blues and Bono started dating.
Bono still goes on stage to perform despite his vow of secrecy. Reboot Camp, which will be released in May 2021, also features Ja Rule, David Lipper, and Keli Price.
On occasion, Bono posts pictures of himself on Instagram. His most recent post advertises his participation in 4D with Demi Lovato in July.
What matters is that Chaz is enjoying himself in whatever he is doing. Cher, his mother, spoke with CNN about Bono’s current life:
“Chaz is so happy, so incredibly pleased, and I have no idea what the issues with the populace are. They are terrified and simply unsure of how to respond. I’m simply not sure why it’s such a big deal. Some of it is religious.
After his transition, Chaz had to deal with the rejection of his friends and family. Chaz’s transformation was difficult in dealing with rejection.
He had to deal with being turned down by his loved ones, his friends, and “people he didn’t know and would never meet.”
Chaz admitted to Demi Lovato, “I had to deal with family not being comfortable, with lovers not being comfortable. When Bono let go of concern about what other people thought, he discovered happiness.
Bono continued, “I finally came to a position where I didn’t care and was ready to take care of myself.”
You might be surprised to find that Cher, a fervent supporter of the LGBTQ+ community, found it difficult to understand Bono’s change. She said to CNN:
“And after many years of discussion, she would always say, “No, I don’t want to do it,” and he would go and say, “OK, I want to do this. It wasn’t simple.
The old Chaz message was on the phone when I recall calling, and that was very challenging. You only have one child after that, but they are still there; they are just in a different shape.
Chaz Bono has been primarily focused on developing his acting career
Chaz said goodbye to reality TV after sharing his transition story on Becoming Chaz in 2011. Chaz made the unexpected decision to pursue acting, which astonished his colleagues. To The Advocate, he said:
“I distinctly recall telling [my team] that I was quitting reality television and switching to acting, to which they responded, ‘What?’ What are you going to do?
I declared, “I can’t do this anymore. People won’t take me seriously, and it will already be difficult enough.” I’m going to pursue my lifelong dream of becoming an actor.
After some time, Bono was able to obtain his breakthrough parts. His goal was to secure roles without the help of his well-known parents.
Chaz has demonstrated that he possesses both the talent and work ethic necessary to make a successful profession out of acting.
He continues to search for the best role available, which is not likely to be a trans one. He disclosed to Pride Source
“I genuinely think of myself as a character actor, and I really enjoy taking on roles that are completely unrelated to who I am.
Acting is what I like to do, what I find enjoyable, and I believe I’m pretty excellent at it.
