Ben Francis: Profession, Career
Francis first created two fitness apps that were mentioned in the iOS App Store charts: physique and the Fat Loss Abs Guide. He delivered pizzas for Pizza Hut between 2010 and 2013 while attending college. He started Gymshark in his parent’s garage in 2012. At first, the company offered health supplements.
Francis co-founded Manière De Voir in 2013, a UK-based retailer of unisex apparel and accessories. But in 2018, he sold his investment.
He started creating and selling athletic wear on the Gymshark website in 2013. He displayed Gymshark’s goods at the Birmingham BodyPower fitness trade event that same year. He collaborated with social media influencers to promote his company.
He left his position as the company’s CEO in 2015 to become the chief brand officer. He inaugurated the main office in Solihull, West Midlands, in 2018. Gymshark launched its own brand-named gym and innovation hub in 2019. Gymshark sold a 21% share to American private equity company General Atlantic in 2020.
He participated in the Business Council for Entrepreneurs of the UK Government in 2019. Francis received the EY UK Entrepreneur of the Year Award the following year. He also enjoys riding motorcycles and cars.
