He completed the ROTC program to earn his degree in international security. A five-year “retirement” from the professional league could be compared to the entire detour outside of the Central Hockey League.

He joined Florida’s farm team in the American Hockey League for the next season, but he struggled to make an impact. After three more unsuccessful professional seasons, the athlete decided to retire.
