Paula Zahn was born on February 24, 1956, in Omaha, Nebraska to a father who worked as an IBM marketing executive and a mother who was a schoolteacher. There are three siblings in all for her.

Before earning her diploma from Naperville Central High School, she attended Washington Junior High School. At Columbia’s Stephens College, Zahn continued her education, receiving a journalism bachelor’s degree there in 1978.

The American newscaster received a prestigious diploma from Oakdale, New York’s Dowling College in May 2003.

Paula Zahn and property developer Richard Cohen were married for 20 years, from 1987 to 2007. Together, they have three kids: Austin, Jared, and Haley.

More specifically, Zahn disclosed in April 2007 that, after 20 years of marriage, she was divorcing her husband. According to tabloid gossip publications, Zahn’s affair with Paul Fribourg was the reason for the couple’s breakup.

But outside of tabloid publications, these speculations and charges were never supported. Zahn brought legal action against Cohen the same year, alleging that he handled her professional earnings improperly for 20 years.

A state court in New York dismissed the complaint after finding that it “is not a commercial matter, rather, it is a divorce conflict disguising itself as a commercial disagreement.”
