Jake Adelstein

American journalist, crime author, and blogger Jake Adelstein has worked primarily in Japan throughout Sunao Adelstein’s husband’s career.

Tokyo Vice: An American Reporter on the Japanese Police Beat is the title of Sunao Adelstein husband debut book. The veracity of the tales presented in the memoir has been contested by many persons.

Bio of Jake Adelstein

Adelstein then worked as a reporter for a US Department of State inquiry into human trafficking in Japan. She also worked for the Daily Beast, Vice News, The Japan Times, and other publications.

As a consultant, Jake sits on the board of the Lighthouse: Center for Human Trafficking Victims.

On April 19, 2011, Adelstein filed a lawsuit against National Geographic Television, which had hired him to assist in the production of a documentary about the yakuza, citing unethical difficulties with their operations in Japan.

After coming to a compromise, the journalist abandoned the claim one month later.
